Please read this document carefully, as it effects your access to training and the manner in which we conduct ourselves during class. It is everyone's responsibility to follow these rules as best we can to ensure we can remain training as safely as possible.

We have a number of updates to our Covid policy as a result of the updated government guidance and IMAC policy. In short:

  • Formal requirements for physical distancing (2m) removed
  • 8pm closing time for sporting events removed
  • Capacity restrictions for outdoor sporting events removed
  • Capacity restrictions for indoor sporting events removed
  • Seated only spectators at indoor sporting events removed
  • Use of pods for indoor sporting activities removed
  • Use of a COVID pass to access indoor events removed

The full announcement can be accessed here: www.gov.ie

The remaining guidance for our club is as follows:

  • Registration for class is still required for contact tracing as per the requirement for “ongoing close monitoring of the virus”
  • The use of a “men-mask” in Kendo is highly recommended. This is inline with current international competition advisory.  If you do not have one let us know and we will give you one
  • General mask wearing is encouraged, but not mandatory at this time during class.
  • Tai Atari and close contact are now allowed in all arts where applicable.
  • Kiai is now allowed in all arts where applicable.
  • Symptomatic individuals are not to participate in or attend class.
  • Participants are advised to arrive prepared to train as there will be limited use of changing rooms.
  • Please maintain ongoing good respiratory & hand hygiene.

Thank you for your continued support and patience with this.

We have a number of updates to our Covid-19 guidance as a result of the updated government policy. You can keep up-to-date with the Government guidelines here - https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/covid19/living_with_covid19_plan.html

 In short:

  1. Vaccine certificates or proof of recovery are now required for ALL Classes effective immediately.
  2. All classes will revert to the pod of 6 system effective immediately.
  3. Mask wearing is recommended, but remains optional.

Detailed explanation of all these measures is below. Please familiarize yourself with the new guidance for class attendance and interaction as outlined.

    1. Vaccine certificates or proof of recovery are now required for ALL Classes effective immediately.

We are now required to strictly operate a vaccine cert or proof of recovery/immunity only attendance

Please note that we shall not be scanning or keeping a record of your vaccine certificate, however, once the instructor has seen it for the first time, we have the ability to bold your name on the attendance record. This means that once we have seen your certificate, you will not need to present this cert more than once.

    2. All classes will revert to the pod of 6 system effective immediately.

As per the latest government policy we will be returning to a strict pod of 6 system.

As such, the following measures are now in immediate effect:

    • Mask wearing is required before and after class. Mask wearing is encouraged, but not mandatory at this time during class.
    • Do not congregate and mix outside before or after the class.
    • Please ensure that you line up in an orderly fashion maintaining 1m distance from other members while waiting to join the class
    • Each pod will contain a maximum of 6 participants (excluding adult coaches/instructors).
    • The overall number of pods will have regard to the size of venue and there should be "substantial social distance" between individual pods.
    • “Substantial social distance” for our arts is defined as a distance of at least 1m (1 shinai length) between pods, if space allows 2m or more (2 shinai) is preferred. Your instructor will determine this at the start of class.
    • Instructors are requested to arrive at class 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow organization and facilitate staggered entry times for participants to minimise the unnecessary interaction of participants at any one time.
    • Symptomatic individuals are not to participate in or attend class.
    • Participants are advised to arrive dressed/prepared to train as there will be limited use of changing rooms.
    • Please bring any bags, equipment, personal belongings with you to your assigned pod.
    • No handshakes, high fives, fist pumps, chest bumps, huddles, group celebrations, etc.
    • Please maintain ongoing good respiratory & hand hygiene.

Thank you for your continued support and patience with this, as we believe it is the right thing to do in these times to ensure the utmost safety for all our students and instructors. This is an essential step necessary to keep the club operational.

Should you have any questions or concerns arising from these decisions, please feel free to contact the club Covid Officer via the contact form - here.
